Textile Totems
Created in February 2012 as a school assignment in the Textile Studio of AAAD
Textile Totems is a work that I created for the assignment called “Where is my power?”.
I answered to myself that it is in endurance and resistance in bad conditions either in life or in the mountains where I spend a lot of time as I am a climber in my free time.
I was inspired by climbing ropes and also totems as manifestations of connection between people of one tribe and their natural ancestors, which were mountains in my case. I chose mountains or rocks that I climbed or want to climb and created this kind of manifestation of my relationship with them.
It was Stok Kangri in India, 6100m, my highest climb so far and El Capitan in the United States, 1000m high compact rock, my dream climb.
